THE KEW MISSION
STATEMENT
As stated by Professor Ghillean Prance
....To enable better management of the earth's environment by
increasing knowledge and understanding of the plant kingdom - the basis
of life.
The mission will be achieved by continuing to maintain the large global
reference collections, undertaking worldwide research into plants,
fungi and ecosystems, producing floras and monographs, disseminating
information widely, training botanists and horticulturalists from
developing countries and informing the public. We aim to make available
living plants, preserved plant material and botanical literature in the
world, adding selectively to the collections wherever possible. We will
place greater emphasis on collaborative research partnerships, on
enabling developing countries to document and protect their plant
resources for sustainable utilization.
